PERFORMANCE
As well as classwork and examinations, we place a strong emphasis on the development of performance skills. Since 1989, we have held our annual end of year show ‘A Gala Evening of Dance’ all pupils are given the opportunity to take part in this event, which is very enjoyable for students and gives them the opportunity to showcase both their technical and performance skills learnt throughout the year.
Our students are also given the opportunity to perform at various charity events, fashion shows, local events, and parades. Since 2019 our senior students have performed at PERFORM Festival RDS Dublin, and in April 2022 we were invited to perform at Spraoi Prism Clonmel. We regularly have guest teachers come to our school to teach workshops to our students, which is a great opportunity for them to be taught by teachers who have worked as dancers on the West End, Touring Companies and Cruise Ships
Since 2014, we have entered the I.S.T.D. Ballet Awards held in London. To qualify for these awards students must receive a high distinction mark in their I.S.T.D. Ballet Examination. Over the last ten years, many of our pupils have successfully qualified and performed at these awards, each year, we have had students in the final of these awards. Our Senior Ballet Awards student success comprises of a 1st place in 2018, 2nd place in 2019, 1st place 2020 at the Senior Ballet Awards in the UK, and 3rd place 2024 in the Imperial Ballet International Online Awards, we also had student success at the Junior Ballet Awards with a 1st and 2nd placing in 2020, 3rd place and 2 commendations in 2021, 2nd place in 2023 and a 3rd in 2024 in the Imperial Ballet International Online Awards. This is an amazing achievement and testament to the hard work of all our pupils and teachers.
