PERFORMANCE

As well as classwork and examinations, we place a strong emphasis on the development of performance skills.

Since 1989, we have held our annual end of year show ‘A Gala Evening of Dance’ where all pupils are given the opportunity to take part in this event. This is very enjoyable for students and gives them the opportunity to showcase both their technical and performance skills learnt throughout the year.

Our pupils are also given the opportunity to perform at various Charity events, fashion shows and local events and parades. In March 2019, our Senior Ballet class performed at Perform Ireland at the RDS, Dublin. We regularly have guest teachers visit our school to teach workshops to our students, which is a great opportunity for them to be taught by teachers who have worked as dancers on the West End, Touring Companies and Cruise Ships

Since 2014, we have entered the I.S.T.D. Ballet Awards held in London. To qualify for these awards students must receive a high distinction mark in their I.S.T.D. Ballet Examination. Over the last four years, eight of our pupils have successfully qualified and performed at these Awards. Each year, we have had students in the final of these Awards and in 2018 and 2020 one of our pupils placed 1st in her category at the Senior Awards.  This is an amazing achievement and testament to the hard work of all our pupils and teachers.
